This Hop Talk, presented in partnership with the Johns Hopkins Institute for Planetary Health (JHIPH) and Center for Social Concern, focuses on planetary health and the medical pathway, exploring how environmental factors shape disease risk, health outcomes, and access to care. Using planetary health as the overarching framework, the conversation will elevate perspectives from Maryland- and Baltimore-based experts—especially clinicians who witness firsthand how environmental conditions affect patient health—while also highlighting the work of community partners like Medicine for the Greater Good, who are challenging dominant narratives in medicine and expanding access to health care services and resources across the state.

Dinner and refreshments will be provided.

Speakers:

  • Nicole Warren, co-program director of the JHIPI Clinical Program and associate professor at the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing
  • Ursula Gately, second-year Johns Hopkins School of Medicine student
  • Panagis Galiatsatos, associate professor at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and co-director of Medicine for the Greater Good

Join the Center for Social Concern in continuing to explore “What is health?”. Through the lens of planetary health, attendees will have a conversation that highlights how local efforts are redefining health and expanding access across Baltimore City.
