Nikita Mtulu is a social scientist, gardener and advocate imagining community-led strategies for green equity in Baltimore City. Her advocacy work focuses on taking an anti-gentrification approach to a greener public right-of-way, and being grounded in neighborhood histories of environmental racism and classism. Originally from Texas, she has lived in Baltimore City for a decade, worked in community-engaged public health research, and is currently doing her PhD in Sociology specializing in race, class, and social policy. Nikita is also the co-chair of the Beautification Committee of Greater Greenmount Community Association working to green the sidewalks of the Barclay and East Baltimore Midway neighborhoods.
