Genee Smith, MSPH, PhD, is passionate about using her training in environmental epidemiology exposure assessment and spatial analysis to promote environmental justice and alleviate placed-based health disparities.

William Swartz, PhD, is a research scientist studying atmospheric chemistry and physics, with broad research experience in modeling/analysis, technology development, space mission development, field measurement, and laboratory experimentation.

Katalin Szlavecz, PhD, researches urban, agricultural and forest soils, including biodiversity, biogeochemical cycling, and the ecosystem services healthy soils provide.

Mitra Taheri, PhD, focuses mainly on electron microscopy and specifically in-situ microscopy. Taheri’s team designs and builds platforms to study materials in different, often extreme, environments including high temperatures, stress, radiation, oxidation, and more.

Sara V. Thoi, PhD, is focused on the development of porous materials and catalytic systems for energy storage and conversion. Dr. Thoi’s lab is also pioneering interfacial and molecular strategies to promote the catalytic conversion of readily abundant molecules to sustainable chemical feedstock and fuels.

Susanna M. Thon, PhD, studies nanomaterials engineering for optoelectronic devices, with a focus on solar energy conversion and sensing.
