Sharon Kingsland, PhD, researches many topics in the history of modern life sciences, with emphasis on the history of ecological science. She recently published A Lab for All Seasons: The Laboratory Revolution in Modern Botany and the Rise of Physiological Plant Ecology, Yale University Press, 2023.

Rebekka Klausen, PhD, has an innovative research program in polymer chemistry and synthesis. The unifying theme in the Klausen Research Group is the application of rational organic synthesis to advance the frontiers of materials science. Through the atomic-level control provided by bottom-up synthesis, they precisely determine and control materials properties.

Umesh Korde, PhD, focuses on wave energy, ocean sensing, wave-body interactions; complex systems dynamics, resilience; applications spanning multiple disciplines, from energy-systems resilience to climate change.

Nicole Labruto, PhD, explores the intersection of life forms, landscapes, and labor in relation to postcolonial biologies.

Carl Latkin, PhD, conducts biobehavioral interventions for disadvantaged communities, with a focus on social networks, substance use, infectious diseases, and mental health. Through the Department of Health, Behavior and Society, Latkin works on promoting collective action for climate change and evaluating and enhancing the work of national organizations that address climate change.

Robert S. Lawrence, MD, PhD, is interested in the environmental impacts of industrial agriculture, food security, and health and human rights. In 1996, Dr. Lawrence founded the Center for a Livable Future at the Bloomberg School of Public Health.
