Eden’s Story
MARYLAND
Junior majoring in Environmental Science and Economics, minoring in Business and Energy
Eden Teodorovici’s background in engagement and planning, combined with her passion for sustainability, led her to the Office of Sustainability. As an Engagement Intern, Teodorovici says that “Every aspect of the position is perfectly fitted and tailored to [her] interests.”
“I not only want to share my passion for sustainability, but I want to spread it– maximizing student interest and involvement,” says Teodorovici. “I want to leave Hopkins with a large community behind me who equally values sustainability and is involved in sustainable efforts.”
Eden’s Work
In high school, Teodorovici was active in her local community. She worked alongside Parks and Recreation to install clean-up stations in her local parks, ran a community service organization, and participated in numerous volunteer activities.
From such experiences, Teodorovici gained valuable communication, collaboration, creativity, and project management skills. Teodorovici says that she will apply these skills to her work with the Office of Sustainability, and hopes to build upon as an Engagement Intern.
Teodorovici hopes, as well, to become more connected to the JHU community through this position. “During my time at Hopkins, this internship and the connection to the Office of Sustainability will help me feel more connected to the campus, the school, and the academic community,” says Teodorovici. “With those connections and experiences, I will be able to cultivate an involved, impactful, and well-rounded experience outside of academics.”
Teodorovici is grateful to be a part of a group of like-minded individuals, she says, and enjoys working alongside fellow interns to engage the JHU community.
Eden’s Inspiration
Raised on a 5-acre farm, Teodorovici “interacted with nature daily.” Her family harvested crops from their garden, kept chickens, and generally lived close to the land.
“From a young age I became absorbed in my environment,” says Teodorovici. “The relationship that I had with nature– allowing each other to coexist– allowed me to have stronger relationships with my family as well.” For Teodorovici, this intersection between community and environment has defined her sustainable pursuits.
“Sustainability is an all-encompassing concept concerned with all aspects of life,” says Teodorovici. “That is something that I have learned and something that I would like to pursue in the future.”
