Green Lead: Whole Impact Training
The “Green Lead: Whole Impact Training” is a voluntary, one semester program for freshmen on the Homewood Campus. It introduces students to campus sustainability programs and initiatives, exposes them to critical concepts in behavior change and strategic project management, fosters a network of like-minded peers who can leverage each other’s potential to engage others, and equips them with the skills and knowledge needed to be effective change agents and leaders on campus, in their community and in their careers! Through seminars, guest speakers, field trips and volunteering exercises, students will have a dynamic, fun and informative experience to learn how to make a mark on a more sustainable JHU.
We are no longer accepting applications for spring 2017.
Sessions will take place 5:30-6:30pm every Wednesday, starting February 8 and running through April 26th (excluding the week of spring break). There will also be supplemental tours, social and other outings on other days and times throughout the semester.
Upon Completion Program Participants will be able to…
- Recognize the values of sustainability, service, and stewardship and apply these principles to leadership experiences.
- Discuss strengths and areas of growth, as well as identify the values that influence their behavior. Identify personal goals for the internship and long-term.
- Be self-driven, creative and proactive on project deliverables, while soliciting support and guidance to ensure alignment with overall program goals.
- Demonstrate the ability to work with others toward a common goal while respecting group contributions.
- Assess problems/issues with their project and exercise practice critical thinking and dialogue with supervisors and intern colleagues to find solutions. Be creative and proactive on project deliverables.
- Create an environment that fosters diversity in thought, experience, and backgrounds.
- Apply time management and project management practices and tools.
- Articulately and effectively express ideas and thoughts through oral and written communication.
- Recognize and analyze ethical situations and formulate a response that is congruent with their behaviors and values.
- Create and organize programs, services and/or events utilizing resources available to them through the UF campus and community.
- Exemplify purposeful follow-through and commitment in an effort to achieve individual and group goals.
