Green Office Certification

The first step to greening your office is assessing your current practices to determine if there are opportunities to become more efficient and reduce the environmental impact of your operations. The second step is joining the ranks of other JHU departments and offices by becoming Green Certified. To start the process, submit this form. Then, complete the checklist and send to the Office of Sustainability by August 1.

Offices can achieve Green Office Certification by taking simple steps to reduce energy consumption, modify waste management practices, make more sustainable purchases, plan lower impact meetings and events, and engage colleagues on sustainability. There are five levels of certification: so start small and work your way up to the highest level over time. Assess your office’s practices now using the Green Office Certification checklist and get certified!

Ideas in Action

Think before you print.

Office paper is highly recyclable, but a lot gets wasted. Waste reduction is more cost-effective than recycling because it reduces the amount of material that needs to be collected, transported and processed.
