Green Office Certification

Offices at Johns Hopkins University can achieve Green Office Certification by taking simple steps to reduce energy consumption, modify waste management practices, make more sustainable purchases, plan lower impact meetings and events, and engage colleagues on sustainability. The checklist serves as a blueprint for your office to assess its current practices and determine opportunities to become more eco-smart. The steps to becoming Green Office Certified are:

  1. Review the Green Office Certification checklist.
  2. Complete the checklist and send to the Office of Sustainability by August 1.
  3. Schedule a walk-through with the Office of Sustainability. Plan for this to take about 1.5 hours.
  4. Follow up: clarify any remaining questions. The Office of Sustainability will provide their top recommendations to improve your score.
  5. Finalize your score and attend an awards ceremony to receive your plaque, joining the ranks of more than 50 other offices who are certified!

Congratulations to the following offices who have achieved certification:

Ideas in Action

Think before you print.

Office paper is highly recyclable, but a lot gets wasted. Waste reduction is more cost-effective than recycling because it reduces the amount of material that needs to be collected, transported and processed.
